About the Museum
The Museum of Military History was officially founded on November 15, 1918, but the antecedents of the foundation can be traced back to a much earlier time, to the 1867 Compromise.
Then a natural demand emerged to set up a Hungarian institution on the analogy of the Austrian Heeresmuseum, that could show the relics of the Hungarian military history to the public.
Following the noblest traditions, the War Museum Foundation was established in 1997.
