The Hungarian version of St Nicholas or Santa Claus is Mikulás. It is well-known tradition for Czech Republic, Poland as well as Slovakia to place a willow switch (or also called 'virgrács') or chocolate and candies 'treats'.

On the 6 December, Hungarian children has to polish or clean their boots, thereafter placing a boot on their windowsil, waiting for Mikulás to come by and fill it with treats. So the naughty or nice kids gets the 'verdict' of whether they have been good or bad by what they see in their boot. Some get both the willow switch and the candies and treats!
